Leonardo DiCaprio calls for new salmon farming practices in BC
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is calling on the federal government to follow through on it’s mandate to transition from open-net pen salmon farming in coastal BC waters by 2025.
A decade of rigorous, peer-reviewed science led by the Pacific Salmon Foundation, DFO, First Nations, and others outlines numerous risks open-net pen salmon farms pose to wild Pacific salmon through the amplification and transfer of harmful parasites and pathogens.
The majority of British Columbians and over 120+ First Nations support the removal of ocean-polluting salmon farms from BC waters. It’s time to #endthepens.
