Salmon farming industry in BC resists transition to land-based closed containment
The decision to remove open-net pen salmon farms in the DI was based on extensive consultation, comprehensive scientific review and the precautionary principle. Globally salmon farm companies are investing in land-based closed containment. In BC, the industry is resisting change. “Grieg’s sponsorship of Proximar in Japan reveals that it both believes in land based systems and yet still prefers dirty old technology here in BC.
