Salmon farming ‘innovation’ will not protect wild Pacific salmon
The First Nation Wild Salmon Alliance (FNWSA), representing over 120 First Nations from across BC, supports the removal of open-net pen salmon farms from BC waters.
The FNWSA argues that salmon farms are exacerbating the threats facing wild Pacific salmon populations, which are already endangered.
“We are sadly going to be the generation that’s watching, witnessing the demise and potential extinction of many salmon runs of the Fraser River,” says Bob Chamberlin, Chair – FNWSA.
Salmon farming ‘innovation’ will not protect wild Pacific salmon. It’s time transition ocean-polluting Atlantic salmon farms from coastal BC waters by 2025.
