FNWSA concerned about salmon farm license extensions in BC
The First Nation Wild Salmon Alliance (FNWSA) is worried that DFO is considering licence extensions for open-net pen salmon farms in BC by up to six years, despite federal commitments to phase out ocean-polluting Atlantic salmon farms by 2025.
“Get those fish farms out of the migratory path [of wild Pacific salmon] period,” says Tyrone McNeil, President – Stó:Lo Tribal Council. “We can’t be any more clear or any more blunt than that.”
Let the Prime Minister and Fisheries Minister know it’s time to end the pens. The future of wild Pacific salmon depends on it.
