Over 120 First Nations urge the Prime Minister to remove salmon farms in BC

First Nations leaders joined commercial fishers, tourism operators, business leaders, scientists and ENGOs to urge Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to follow through on his 2019 promise to transition open-net pen salmon farms out of BC waters by 2025.

“All our livelihoods directly rely on the healthy wild salmon,” says Kyle Louis, VP, United Fisherman and Allied Workers Union (UFAWU).

“We as First Nations and British Columbians have everything to loose,” says Tyrone McNeil, President, Stó:lō Tribal Council.

It’s time to remove all ocean-polluting Atlantic salmon farms from BC waters and safeguard wild Pacific salmon for future generations.
