Groups across BC stand united calling to remove salmon farm

First Nations, commercial fishers, tourism operators, business leaders, scientists, and ENGOs across BC are standing united in their expectation for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to remove ocean-polluting Atlantic salmon farms from coastal BC waters by 2025.

“We want to see the Prime Minister’s mandate to two successive DFO Ministers properly embraced and acted upon by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans,” says Bob Chamberlin, Chair – FNWSA. “It was very clear, a responsible plan to transition from open-net pen fish farms. It’s not out of line to consider that DFO would come back to it’s primary mandate to look after wild salmon in the environment.”

It’s time to end the pens and give wild Pacific salmon a fighting chance.
