Proximar Seafood successfully harvests land-based farmed salmon
Proximar Seafood in Japan, funded by Grieg Kapital, is a notable example showing how innovation in aquaculture can be achieved while ensuring the protection of wild stocks.
The company’s facility in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, has been steadily raising and harvesting batches of salmon in its land-based recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) since it began operations in October 2022.
The company said its first batch of salmon came in at an average of 4 kilograms head-on gutted (HOG) with 100 percent superior quality ✅
