Lødingen Fisk to build new land-based salmon facility in Nordland
Norwegian salmon producer Lødingen Fisk has signed an agreement with Pure Salmon Technology to build a new land-based recirculating aquaculture system facility in Vestbygda, Nordland.
The project was originally planned as a flow-through system, but the company shifted to RAS technology after reviewing water use and power capacity constraints. The new facility will include dedicated areas for fry, smolt, and post-smolt production, with a total production volume of 15,000 cubic metres.
Installation is expected to begin in August 2026, with completion planned for September 2028, adding another example of salmon producers investing in land-based systems that offer greater control, flexibility, and reduced pressure on marine environments.
